J-I clinches six-man playoff spot with over Brady

The regular season came to an end for Northern six-man teams in the area. For the J-I Rams it was just the beginning as they earned a precious playoff spot with a 54-26 win over Brady. The Rams will hit the road to face the Roberts Rockets on Saturday.

The Box Elder Bears also had an outside chance of making the playoffs. However, their decisive 91-0 win over Brockton was not enough, as they just missed out on the final playoff spot.

J-I 54, Brady 26

The J-I Rams needed a win to clinch a spot in next weekend's Class C six-man playoffs. Saturday afternoon in Brady the Rams did just that as they routed the host Bulldogs 54-26.

J-I used a 25-point second-quarter outburst to build a 33-6 halftime lead. The Rams then put the Bulldogs away in the third quarter with 21 more unanswered points.

Zach Ramberg threw three touchdown passes, including two to Craig Miller. John Wolery also scored twice on runs of 45 and 5 yards. Matt Temple also accounted for three TD's. Temple scored on runs of 1 and 9 yards and also threw a TD to Miller.

With the win, the Rams finish the regular season with a 6-3 record, which was good enough for a third-place finish in the Northern six-man division.

Box Elder 91, Brockton 0

The Box Elder Bears completed their first winning season in recent memory by hammering the host Brockton Warriors 91-0. However, the Bears' win was not enough to get them into the Class C six-man playoffs.

With the win, the Bears finished the season with a 5-4 overall record. They finished in a three-way tie with Geyser and Augusta for fourth place. By way of the tie-breaker the Geyser Wranglers earned the final playoff spot in the division.

On Saturday, the Bears did all they could to take care of business on their end. Box Elder scored 70 points in the first half, including 43 in the first quarter. Running back James Burns scored four times in the first half including runs of 4, 14 and 3 yards. Burns also returned an interception 25 yards for his fourth touchdown of the day. Quarterback Neal Rosette also threw three touchdown passes in the win.

Augusta 95, Rocky Boy 0

The Rocky Boy Stars completed a dismal season by being on the receiving end of a 95-0 thrashing at the hands of the Augusta Elks Saturday afternoon in Augusta.

The Elks scored 11 rushing touchdowns in the shutout. Kade Greaney, Ace Mills and Bart Davis all reached the end zone three times a piece in the blowout.
