MICHAEL BOARDMAN obituary

HOGELAND - Michael Lane Boardman, 43, of Aurora, Colo., formerly of Hogeland, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at his residence due to an apparent heart attack.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Hogeland American Lutheran Church with burial following with military honors in the Wing Cemetery.

Mike was born on June 29, 1960, to Chester and Nora (Tews) Boardman in Great Falls. He attended school in Hogeland and graduated from Turner High School in 1978. That same year he entered the U.S. Marine Corps. After finishing basic training in San Diego, he was stationed in Cuba and later Adak, Alaska. In basic training he qualified as an expert marksman and was trained in special intelligence. It was in the service that he discovered his knack for and love of computers. He was honorably discharge in June of 1981.

Upon leaving the Marines, Mike started working in the computer field at Las Vegas and Chicago, before spending the last 15 years in the Denver area. At the time of his death he was working for Northrop Grumman Corp. in Golden, Colo., as a field engineer for IT support.

Mike loved his family more than anything. His other great love was the outdoors, especially Montana.

Growing up on the Big Flat, he was always outside on his motorcycle exploring the entire country with his brother Alan and friends. As an adult, Mike loved to spend his spare time four-wheeling with his buddies or fishing a mountain lake. He took many breathtaking pictures of places they had been. Mike also enjoyed making dinners for his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Boardman of Hogeland in 1989; brother, Alan Boardman of Chinook in 2002; his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Survivors include his mother, Nora Boardman; sister, Susan (Royce) Walker; nephew, Chance Walker; niece, Fallon Walker, all of Belgrade.

Memorials may be sent to the Blaine County Wildlife Museum.

Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
