ELIZABETH PETERSON obituary

CHINOOK - Elizabeth "Queenie" Peterson, 91, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at a Havre care center of natural causes.

A funeral service was scheduled for 11 a.m. today at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was to follow in the Kuper Memorial Cemetery.

Queenie was born to Erato Hedges and Oscar Dougherty on July 6, 1912, in Lohman. She was raised in Chinook and attended schools there and also in Havre.

Queenie married Reynold Peterson on March 4, 1933, in Chinook. Besides raising her children, she cooked, cleaned houses, worked in Pherson's Motel, and cared for a lot of the children of the community in her day-care.

Queenie loved to garden, crochet, and travel. She also loved animals, especially horses. Queenie was an avid fisherwoman and liked to catch and eat catfish.

She is preceded in death by her husband and one son, Robert.

Survivors include her daughters, Lois Schelling of Moorcroft, Wyo., Patricia Farrar of Chinook, Ruth Powell of Glendive and Louise Weigand of Chinook; sons, Eugene of Hingham and Ted of Chinook; 18 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
