VIOLET SWICK obituary

Violet M. Swick, 70, of Cut Bank died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at a Shelby care center due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday with visitation starting one hour prior to service time at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cut Bank. A luncheon

will follow at the Moose Lodge. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Cemetery in Havre, with a reception to follow at the Vet's Club.

Violet was born on Feb. 14, 1933, to Albert and Dorothy (Schaffer) Knudson in Havre where she was raised and educated.

She married Darrell Swick on Oct. 26, 1952, in Havre. They farmed in the Havre area. Violet also worked as a nurse's aide and cook at various nursing homes in the area. They later divorced.

Violet moved to Cut Bank, where she worked as a waitress and cook at the Big Sky Caf, Burgins Caf and the Golden Harvest Caf. She developed COPD approximately 12 years ago and had been ill since.

She loved painting dresser scarves and pillow cases and listening to country music and Elvis Presley songs. She especially enjoyed going to the senior center and the Golden Harvest Caf to socialize with friends and co-workers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lloyd Knudson; sister, Doral Knudson Andrew; and sons, Jerry Lee Swick and Jimmy Dale Swick.

Survivors include her daughters, JoAnn Marie Swick (Robert) Maffit of Helena and Judy Gail Swick (Bill) Scofield of Cut Bank; brothers, Lyle Knudson, Stanley Knudson and Dave Knudson, all of Havre and Glen Knudson of State Line, Wash.; sister Glade Rohde of Bismarck, N.D.; grandchildren, Gene Swick and Jeremiah Swick both of Havre, Jim Swick, Jeff Swick, Jezarae Swick, Jasie Swick all of Anderson, Calif., Kristy Maffit (Randy) Schlueter of Missoula, Jamie Maffit of Philadelphia, Pa., Allie Jo Maffit of Helena, Stephanie (Mike Jr.) Moran of Cut Bank and Brandon Firman of Fayetteville, N.C.; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Whitted Funeral Chapel of Shelby is in charge of arrangements.
