Brumwell's 43 leads Big Sandy in 9C showdown

The second week of the high school boys basketball season saw plenty of action across the Hi-Line as conference races in District 2B and District 9C got under way this past weekend.

Thursday night the Chester Coyotes stepped up into the Class B ranks to take on the Fort Benton Longhorns and were knocked off by 11 points, 60-49.

Travis VanDyke led three Coyotes in double figures with 18 points. John Tranberg and Mitch Violett added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Thursday night the KG KouGars also got into the win column with a close 53-50 win over District 10C rival Joplin Inverness.

The Rams grabbed an early 16-14 lead, but wound up trailing KG 27-24 at halftime. KG outscored J-I 16-11 in the third quarter to widen the lead. Although J-I rallied late in the contest, they came up short in the end.
