OMER C. THON obituary

STANWOOD, Wash. - Omer C. Thon, 71, died on Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, in Stanwood, Wash.

Omer was born in Havre to Ingvald and Olina Thon on May 18, 1932. The family farmed out of Kremlin. He lived in Montana until 1943,

when he moved to Mount Vernon, Wash., after the death of his father. He attended Lincoln Grade School and graduated in 1950 from Union High School.

After graduation, he began his career in accounting with the firm of Hartwick Accounting, until he was called into the service of his country, serving in the Army from October 1952 until his honorable discharge in October 1954. He then continued in the accounting field with his last employment with Florence Packing Co. of Stanwood.

Omer married Pamela Burnell in November 1978 and was the stepfather to Pam's son, Jerry. After the death of his niece, Verna Lee Carrier, Omer and Pam raised her youngest daughter, Lori-Anne.

Omer was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mae Arnzen.

Survivors include his daughter, Lori-Anne (Dean) McPherson of Camano Island, Wash.; stepson, Jerry Burnell Jr. of Hillsboro, Ore.; four grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; sister, Mabel Cooper of Mount Vernon, Wash.; nephews, Gene Cooper of Mount Vernon, Wash., Don Amzen and family of Enumclaw, Wash., Gene Mortenson of Redlands, Calif.; niece, Linda Robbins and family of Renton, Wash.; special family, George and Cathy Nygard and family of Sumas, Wash.; special cousin, Margaret Swick of Havre; and numerous other cousins, great nieces, nephews and friends.
