Blue Pony swimmers split duals with Great Falls' squads; finish second at Bozeman Inviational

By the Daily news staff - After a three-week break from competition, the Havre High swim team got plenty of it this past weekend. The Ponies competed Friday in a triangular dual with CMR and Great Falls High and then headed to the always-tough Bozeman Invitational on Saturday.

On Friday, the Ponies split their duals with the Great Falls' schools. On the boys side, Havre defeated, 59-38, but fell to Great Falls High 55-38.

Scott Robinson paced the Ponies winning the 200 IM, finishing second in the 100 butterfly, while swimming on the winning 200 medley relay team. Kevin Friede had a solid performance. finishing third in the 50 free and sixth in the 100 free. Also scoring points were Scott Vigliotti in 200 IM and 500 freestyle, Ryan Kinholt in the 100 back and the 100 butterfly, Bryden Vukasin in the 100 breastroke, Jordan Croft and Jordan Magelssen in the 200 freestyle, Sam Simpson and Lucas Lopez in the 50 freestyle, Anthony McLain in the 100 back and 500 freestyle and Matt Hartman in the 100 butterfly.

The HHS girls got solid performances from Rachel Hansen with a win in the 100 free and a sixth in the 200 free. Kasie Teske placed third in the 50 freestyle and fourth in the 100 freestyle. Katie Hartman also placed in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly. The relay team of Danielle Barton, Kristin Evanson, Teske and Hansen captured the 200 free relay.

On Saturday in Bozeman, both Havre squads finished in second place behind host Bozeman, but well ahead of the rest of the Class A schools competing.

Robinson once again led the boys with a win in the 50 freestyle and a fourth in the 100 free. Hartman finished fifth in 100 butterfly and sixth in the 200 IM, while Kinholt placed in the 200 free, Croft in the 200 IM and Vigliotti also placed in the 400 free.

For the girls, Hansen and Teske finish first and second in the 50 free and fourth and fifth in the 100 frees. Katie Hartman finished with a fifth in the 200 IM and a fourth in the 100 butterfly. Havre had Brittne Zimmer and Kaitlin Perrodin place fifth and sixth in the 400 free, Danielle Barton grabbed a win in the 100 backstroke and Millie Hall finished third. Kyra Kaercher added a fifth in the 100 back while the team of Barton, Perrodin, Teske and Hansen finished second in the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay.

Havre will return to action on Saturday for the Class A meet in Hardin.Bozeman Invitational
