The Havre Ice Hawk high school squad capped a successful weekend with a third-place finish at its own invitational tournament at the Havre Ice Dome.
The Ice Hawks opened play on Friday afternoon with a 1-0 win over the Shaunavon (Saskatchewan) Badgers.
Andy Meyers scored the game's lone goal in the third period, while the Havre defense, behind the play of goalie Mark Larson, held on for the shutout.
On Friday night, Havre skated to a 4-3 win over Bozeman in pool play. Andy Hanson scored the game winner in the second period on an assist from Tyson Anderson to ice the win.
The Ice Hawks opened with a goal from Jordon Patterson, assisted by Chazz Hurlburt and Tyson Anderson.
In the second period, Michael Anderson scored Havre's second goal with an assist from Patterson. Shiloh Barrett added a goal later in the period with an assist from Michael Erickson.
On Saturday, Havre suffered a 6-3 loss to league-foe Helena. The Ice Hawks got goals from Josh Morse, Patterson and Hanson with assists from Hurlburt, Meyers and Kaare Engebretson.
The Ice Hawks were shut out 6-0 on Saturday afternoon by a very good Bow Island, Alberta team to finish 2-2 in pool play.
Shaunavon captured the tourney title with Helena finishing second.
The Ice Hawks will return to action this weekend when they travel to Helena for a pair of league games. Havre must win one of the games this weekend to qualify for the high school state hockey tournament in Butte on March 4-7.
