Mary Jean Shrauger, 74, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at a Havre hospital of natural causes.
A prayer vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. today at St. Jude Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert D Grosch officiating. A private family service will be held later per Jean's
request with burial at the Highland Cemetery.
Mary Jean was born on Nov. 21, 1929, in Williston, N.D., to James and Catherine (Bauer) Harvey. She attended grade school in Havre, two years of high school in Spokane, Wash., and her last two years at Havre High School. She graduated from Havre High in 1947.
She married Sam Shrauger on June 16, 1947, in Havre. The couple made their home north of Havre on the St. Joe Road, where they farmed and ranched for 56 years.
Jean was involved in several clubs and did a lot of volunteer work.
Jean enjoyed bowling, ceramics, knitting and crocheting. She loved dogs and all animals, especially her dog Abby. The one thing Jean loved the most was her family.
Mary Jean was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kevin Shrauger; and one grandson, Travis Keller.
Survivors include her husband, Sam Shrauger of Havre; daughters, Kayette (Greg) Childree and Launa (Dan) Keller, both of Havre; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren with one on the way.
