Men's leagues reach halfway point of season

The first half of the men's league regular season came to a close this past week at Beaver Creek Golf Course. And tournament action across the Hi-Line is just heating up.

Tuesday night saw Stockman Bank score 24 points to take high team honors as well as grab one of the four coveted playoff spots. Stockman Bank is composed of Tom Adams, Bruce Normandy, Chuck Wimmer and Murray Barkus.

Normandy also earned low gross after firing a 1-under-par 35. Pat Foster was low net with a score of 30.5.

Stockman Bank finished in third place in the final Tuesday night standings, while the first half of the season was captured by Hi-Way Bar with 191 points. The Shanty Bar was second and Schubert/ Anderson jumped three places on the final night to finish in fourth place.

On Wednesday night, Michelob Light earned high-team honors with 23.5 half points. The win on Wednesday also catapulted the team of Jim Kato, Rick Reynolds, Tom Baker and Dick Scharfe into first place in the final Wednesday night standings. Scharfe was also low gross with a 1-over-par 37 and Chris Young earned low-net honors with a 31.

Joining Michelob Light in September's playoffs is Stone Child College, which finished in second place with 165 points. Mariani Insurance was third and D.A. Davidson finished fourth.

The second half of the men's league regular season will begin on Tuesday night with Frontier Lawn and HPDP having byes. Beaver Creek Golf Course is out on Wednesday night.

Saturday afternoon saw the Chinook Golf Club host the annual Natalie Patrick Scramble. The tournament was captured by the team of Barry Kato, Pat Foster, Dave Peterson and Kathy Peterson. The foursome finished the tournament with a net score of 52.6.

Meanwhile, Sunday afternoon saw BCGC host its annual Men's League Calcutta. The duo of Larry Morsette and Steve Galbavy defeated Butch Albertson and Max L. Erickson in a one-hole playoff. Both teams carded net scores of 12-under-par 60. Frank Henry was low gross for the day with a 76 and Galbavy earned low-net honors with a 64.
