Museum says it may have to leave Heritage Center

The H. Earl Clack Museum may soon have to pack up its bags and leave the Heritage Center - the building it's called home since 1996 - if the city of Havre follows through with a recent decision to charge the museum $1,666 in rent each month for the space it occupies in the center.

Clack Museum Board Chairman Ron VandenBoom said the museum simply cannot afford a rent that large when it operates on a budget of less than $35,000 per year.

"We'd love to stay in the building," VandenBoom said Tuesday. "But we can't afford $1,666 per month. We just didn't expect this."
