Behind the solid pitching of Kristin Evanson and the hitting of Kim Collins, J.M. Donoven captured the A-League City Girls Fast Pitch Softball Tournament championship in decisive fashion, defeating Valley Furniture 14-0.
Evanson, who was named the tournament's most valuable defensive player, held Valley to just two hits in five innings of work. Evanson struck out two batters and walked one in the win.
Collins collected three hits including a single, a run-scoring double and a two-run home run off of Valley starter Whitney Barnekoff to lead J.M. Donoven. For her efforts, she was named the tournament's most valuable offensive player.
Valley Furniture advanced to the championship game with a 21-10 win over MSU-Northern as Barnekoff and Stacey Sheppard both took turns on the mound in the win.
Kelsey Evans finished 4-4 with with three RBIs, including a double and a triple. Hope Hedges had three hits and scored three runs, Katie McLeod added two hits and three runs scored.
Lena Suek had a home run to lead MSU-Northern.
