Local golfers compete at State Seniors

Playoff action in ladies league took center stage this week at Beaver Creek Golf Course, while the race towards the men's league playoffs is also nearing the finish line.

Last Tuesday night, the team sponsored by Beaver Creek Golf Course earned high team after piling up 26 points. BCGC is composed of Bruce Normandy, Kent McCormick, Ron Surber and Paul Teel.

Murray Barkus, Steve Mariani and Lunar Evans shared low gross with 39s and Bill Keller and Russ Earl shared low net with 31.5.

Wednesday night saw Valley Furniture grab high-team honors with 23 points. Valley Furniture is composed of Mike Purkett, Mike Evans, Mike Peterson and Tom Haas. Trent Normandy fired a 1-under-par 35 to take home low gross for the night. Barry Kato was low net with a 31.5.

There are three weeks left in the men's league regular season. Pizza Pro and BCGC will have a bye tonight and Bear Paw Credit Union is out on Wednesday night.

The first night of Ladies League playoffs was interrupted by thunderstorms. The playoffs will continue on Thursday night.

Several locals golfers competed at the 48th Montana State Senior Golf Association Tournament in Bozeman. Cal Loudermilk and Brad Dugdale were the highest local placers with a three-day total of 267. Chester's Carmen Jensen fired a 268. Both Dugdale and Jensen posted second-round 79s.
