Chinook, Chester go undefeated in conference

The high school volleyball season came to a close this past weekend, leaving local teams preparing for their respective district tournaments.

A pair of Hi-Line teams accomplished the extremely tough feat of going undefeated in their conference seasons.

The Chinook Sugarbeeters capped a perfect season in the newly renovated District 1B conference with a pair of wins on the weekend.

The Beeters cruised to a 25-14, 25-18, 25-13 over the Malta Mustangs on Thursday in Malta.

Chinook got six kills each from Morgan Obie and Whitney Lybeck. Obie also contributed 10 digs and Lybeck added three aces and two blocks in the win. Crystal Roseberry added 10 digs and two blocks for Chinook.

The Beeters closed out their season with a 25-11, 25-21, 25-17 win over Conrad in Chinook on Friday.

Lybeck notched 10 kills and 10 digs for the Beeters, while Roseberry added 15 assists in the win.

In District 6C, the Chester Coyotes wrapped up a perfect 12-0 conference season and a regular season title with a 25-10, 19-25, 25-18, 25-14 win over Sunburst.

Chester got seven kills, seven digs, five aces and four blocks from Shawnee Norick in the win. JoAnna LaSorte dished out 15 assists.

Sunburst was led by Rachel Kleinert's six kills and two digs.

The Big Sandy Pioneers capped off an impressive conference season with a pair of wins over Box Elder and Rocky Boy.

Big Sandy had little trouble with the Bears, defeating them in Big Sandy 25-14, 26-9, 25-14

Naomi Williams had six kills and Raynee Pearson added six aces and five digs in the win

The Pioneers also had little trouble with the Morning Stars rolling to a 25-13, 25-18, 25-16 win in Rocky Boy.

Raynee Pearson racked up eight kills, four digs and four aces in the win.

Rocky Boy was led by Rainbow Stump's eight assists. Kelly Jo Morsette added seven digs in the loss.

Big Sandy finished the conference season with a 9-3 record and in a tie for second place in the 6C standings.

Blue Sky/J-I finished the season with an identical 9-3 record thanks to a 18-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-14 win over Sunburst on Saturday in Rudyard.

Hannah Pimley rolled up 12 kills to lead the Eagles, while Kaila Warren added 10 digs, five aces and two blocks.

Sunburst got nine digs and six kills from Kleinert in the loss.

The Refiners finished fourth in the regular season with a 6-6 record.

Box Elder, Rocky Boy and KG all finished the season with 2-10 conference records.

KG moved itself into the three-way tie with a 25-18, 26-24, 25-27, 25-18 win over Rocky Boy in Gildford. Tasha Dyrland and Jodi Norman combined for 24 kills and 45 digs to lead the KouGars, while Whitney Hanson and Janine Jorgenson dished out a total of 27 assists.

Tori Belcourt and Jamie Anderson led the Morning Stars with 12 and 11 kills respectively Loni Belcourt also had a solid match with 11 assists, 15 digs and five aces.

Box Elder picked up its second conference of the season with a 25-21, 25-22, 14-25, 22-25, 18-16 win over KG.

Codi Rainingbird led Box Elder with 10 kills, nine digs and three aces, while Loni LaMere had six kills and eight digs in the win.

KG got 12 kills and three blocks from Tasha Dyrland in the loss.

Elsewhere, the Harlem Wildcats' tough conference season came to a close with a 25-14, 25-13, 25-11 loss to the Plentywood Wildcats. Plentywood got seven kills and a block from Jill Kanning in the win. Harlem was led by Danielle Dirden's four kills, seven digs and two blocks.
