ALICE B. MEYER obituary GREAT FALLS

Alice B. Meyer, 90, of Great Falls, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, at Peace Hospice, due to natural causes.

A vigil service will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday at 6 p.m. Her funeral liturgy will also be held at the church on Saturday at 11 a.m., with Father Richard Schlosser presiding. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at Schnider Funeral Home immediately after the interment. Alice was born March 18, 1917, in Belgium, Wis., to John and Mary (Bares) Uselding. They lived on their dairy farm a couple miles from Belgium. Her parents were hardworking farmers, raising three boys and Alice. They attended Holy Cross Catholic church, teaching their children the importance of honor and praise to God. She received her education in Belgium and Sheboygan. Alice met the love of her life, Eugene L. Meyer, who worked att he Kohler Co. He swept her off her feet with his new car and charm. Gene and Alice were married at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Aug. 24, 1940. During their early years of marriage, Alice and Gene worked together at their business, Meyer's Hardware Store. In 1954, they moved to Great Falls as Eugene was eager to be near his roots in Geyser. Alice lived in the same house for 53 years. Alice was a quiet, gentle woman with a deep faith in God. She loved being mother to seven children, raising them with constant love and gentle guidance. She loved “all” her family. She was proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alice was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, Legion of Mary, bible study groups and a Eucharistic minister. She enjoyed a good cup of coffee, sewing, embroidering, quilting, growing flowers, dancing with dad, bingo, the color pink, talking on the phone, traveling and anything with her family. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years; and her infant son, baby Kenny She is survived are her son, Dan (Elaine) Meyer of Kennewick, Wash .; daughters, Judy (Howard) Eystad, Noreen (Ron) Udall, both of Great Falls, Mary (Stan) Martin of Havre, Bonnie (Gregg) Doerfler of Polson and Joan (Rick) Knutson of Bozeman; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
