Cruz'n Association's Rod Run returns

Fans and owners of hot rods will gather in Havre next weekend when the Hi-Line Cruz'n Association brings the 23rd annual Rod Run to town June 12-14. Barb Salerno said that, as of Thursday, 41 hot rods were registered to come to the event at the Great Northern Fairgrounds, although people often show up and register right through the start of the Rod Run. Registration and “prison slop” a taco dinner named in conjunction with the event's theme of “Cops and Rodders” will run from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 12, with registration resuming from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 13. People can register their vehicles right to the 1 p.m. deadline, but no registrations will be accepted after that. Registration for the run is $45 per family or $35 for each individual and $20 for each extra guest. Separate registration is available for the only public event at the run the Show N Shine, which also will be held at the Great Northern Fairgrounds. People can register for $5 to show their vehicle at that event, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 13 at the f a i r g r o u n d s , without participating in the rest of t h e R o d Run. That also is the only event people not registered for the run can attend. “The only thing for the public is the Show and Shine,” Salerno said. “We love for them to come up and see the cars.” People registering only for that event will not be part of the judging Salerno said registered Rod Run participants will be judged with prizes awarded for the Show 'N Shine. Prizes also are awarded during the Poker Run from 2 to 4 p.m. During that event, people drive their rods from the fairgrounds to Marden's Camp Ground at Beaver Creek Park. Each driver makes five stops aAfter visiting a bit at the campground, the drivers will return to the fairgrounds. Drivers with the best poker hand will receive awards during the pitch fork fondue and awards ceremony set to start at 6 p.m. June 13 at the fairgrounds' Activity Building. After the dinner and awards, dancing will start to the music of local rock and roll band Blind Luck.long the way, picking up a playing card.
