JOSEPHINE ST. MARKS obituary

Josephine St. Marks, 92, whose Indian name is White Eagle Woman, died Thursday, June 4, 2009, at the Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes.

Her wake service began Friday, and her funeral service was 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2009, all at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church with the Rev. Pete Guthneck officiating. Burial will follow at the Billy Lamere Ranch in Rocky Boy, Mont. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Josephine was born Sept. 3, 1916, at Browning, Mont., to Josephine Godin and Louie Mosney. She attended Wahpeton Boarding School and the Sangrey Day School. She married Victor Lamere Sr. He passed away, and later she married Myles St. Marks. Josephine worked as a cook for the Rocky Boy Schools for several years before retiring. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rocky Boy. Her favorite times were spent enjoying the company of her grandchildren, especially one she called her baby Brandon. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Victor Lamere Sr. And Myles (Cowboy) St. Marks; sons, Eugene Lamere Sr., Melvin Lamere, Victor (pucksue) Lamere Jr. And Robert Lee Lamere; grandchildren, Audrey Demontiney, Darwin Demontiney, Eugene Lamere Jr. And Jimmy Gene Lamere; sisters, Geneva Houle, Alice Gardipee and Rose Bernard; and brothers, Henry Mosney and John Morsette Sr. Josephine is survived by her son, Billy Lamere of Rocky Boy, Mont .; stepson, Larry (Margaret) Denny of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughters, Victoria (Pete) Demontiney, Betty Lamere, Mildred (Wilson) Mitchell and Judy (Martin) Parker, all of Rocky Boy, Mont .; sisters, Theresa Tendoy, Violet (Robert) Oats, Retha Chandler, Linda Healy, Vivian Striker, Marla Boe and Hannah Collins; brothers, Larry (Karen) Morsette, Kermit Morsette, Richard Lawrence Morsette, William (Sonnyboy) Morsette, Melvin Morsette and Harvey (Joe-boy) Morsette; 30 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
