VERNON C. “DOC” BERg Obituary

Vernon “Doc” Berg, 85, a retired farmer from Kremlin, died of natural causes Friday June 5, 2009, at the Northern Montana Care Center.

Cremation has taken place, and at his request no services will be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Vernon was born Aug. 14, 1923, to August and Margith (Skjaldhammer) Berg in Havre, Mont. Vernon lived his entire life in Kremlin, graduating from Kremlin High School in 1941. Vernon was a farmer all of his life. He loved the smell of freshly tilled soil and freshly harvested grain. Vernon was a member of the Kremlin Volunteer Fire Department and served as fire chief. He served on the Kremlin school board and also on the board for the merged Kremlin and Gildford schools. He loved going to Havre and visiting his many friends. Vernon enjoyed working with wood. He was an accomplished carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Margith (Skjaldhammer) Berg; sisters, Alice Mathews; Helen Belland and Lillian Dove; and his brothers, Alfred, Leon, Morris and Marvin Berg. Vernon is survived by his wife of 57 years, Delores Berg of Kremlin, Mont.; a son, Craig (Susan) Berg of Kremlin, Mont.; and a daughter Denise (Thomas) Vosen of Kremlin, Mont.; three grandchildren, Christopher (Rachel) Berg, Kimberly (Mark Larson) Berg and Drew Thackeray all of Kremlin, Mont.; two greatgrandchildren; his brother, Art (Pat) Berg of Kremlin, Mont.; and a sister, Margaret Throckmorton of Great Falls, Mont.; his sister-in-law, Margaret Berg of Bozeman, Mont.
