Janet Marie Belcourt obituary

Janet Marie Belcourt, 59, died Thursday evening at Benefis Health Care in Great Falls, Mont.

Her wake service began 5 p.m. Friday with the rosary beginning at 9 p.m. at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church with her funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday also at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church with the Rev. Pete Guthneck officiating. Burial followed at the Rocky Boy Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Janet was born Sept. 13, 1949, in Fort Belknap, to John and Nadine (Iron Maker) Morsette. She attended Northern Montana College and graduated in 1979 with the bachelor of science in secondary education. She then attended the University of Hawaii School of Public Health and graduated in 1981 with her master's in public health. With her education, Janet was able to assist in many areas such as working as the service unit administrator and director for Rocky Boy. She also worked for the Northern Idaho Service Unit as its administrative officer. She worked for Indian Health Services in Rocky Boy, Billings, and in Salem, Ore. After she retired, she served on the Rocky Boy Health Board and was the chief executive officer and recruitment director. She then moved to Nashville, Tenn., and worked for the Indian Health Service as the health contract officer for one year and then on to Cherokee, N.C., as a health systems administrator. She also owned and opertated JJ's One Stop & Shop. Janet enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren and friends. She loved to travel, do crafts, sewing for her grandchildren, walking and anything that involved being outdoors. She loved to laugh and enjoyed a good joke. She was preceded in death by her father John Morsette and her brother Jon (Cubby) Morsette. She is survived by her mother, Nadine Morsette of Rocky Boy, Mont .; her children, James Small, Jason (Carrie) Belcourt, Angie (Larry) Belcourt and Angel (Stacy) Belcourt, all of Rocky Boy, Mont;. Siblings: Rick (Theda) Morsette,Patty (Lenno) Henderson,Avis (Hank) Gardipee, James J. Morsette all of Rocky Boy, Mont .; and Doug (Nonie) Morley of Bozeman, Mont .; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter Nevaeh Marie Belcourt
