Michael J. Farley obituary

Michael J. Farley, 97, died of natural causes on Friday,May 8, 2009, at the Northern Montana Care Center in Havre, Mont.

Memorial Graveside Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2009, at the Highland Cemetery in Havre. Arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Michael was born Oct. 6, 1911, to Friend and Estella (Marsh) Farley in Tagus, N.D. He moved with his family to Havre when he was nine years old. He graduated from Havre High School in 1928 and Northern Montana College in 1930. He worked for the Great Northern Railroad and then sold cars for Dowen Buick and later for Angstman Motors. He was justice of the peace for many years. His hobby was playing music. He played for dances for many years around Havre. He attended many jazz festivals around Montana and Washington. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Marion, in 1990; one son, Jim; one daughter, Joyce; a brother, Marshall; five sisters, Hazel Gehlen, Maybelle Zeman, Irene Hodge, Bernice Lineweaver and Marian Acord; one grandson; two greatgrandsons; and one greatgranddaughter. Michael is survived by his son William (Ellen) Farley of Hayden, Idaho; two daughters, Virginia (Ted) Lilly of Pasco, Wash .; and Patricia Hayes of Glasgow, Mont .; 20 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren and 43 great-great-grandchildren.
