CAThERINE BERNICE (BARTLETT) LANNINg obituary BIG SANDY

Catherine Bernice (Bartlett) Lanning, 87, died June 22, in the Big Sandy Medical Center, after a long battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 26, at United Methodist Church in Big Sandy. Burial will follow in Big Sandy Cemetery. Benton Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Bernice was born Dec. 14, 1921, to Thomas and Sophia (Stenseth) Bartlett in Great Falls. She grew up in Great Falls. Bernice graduated from Great Falls High in 1939 and graduated from the College of Great Falls in 1941. Bernice taught school south of Big Sandy where she met Wilbur Lanning. They were married Dec. 13, 1941. They lived on their ranch south of Big Sandy on the Missouri River for 52 years before moving to Big Sandy. Bernice was an avid gardener, seamstress and a terrific cook. She was known for her delicious homemade bread and beautiful yard and garden. Survivors include her son, Bob (Linda) Lanning; daughters, Alice (Paul) Breidenbach and Alma (Glenn) Terry; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Tom Bartlett and Richard Bartlett; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents; and a sister, Agnes Grosskopf. Memorials are suggested to Chouteau County Peace Hospice or the Big Sandy Senior Citizen Center.
