PHYLLIS M. WEBER, obituary

Phyllis M. Weber, 87, of Helena, went to be with the Lord, her husband, Fred, and her son, Paul, on June 22, 2009, passing away at Big Sky Care Center in Helena.

Phyllis was born on April 12, 1922, in Cascade, Mont., to Ralph and Marie Enyart Schell. She graduated from the University of Montana and was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. She taught school in Cascade, Fort Benton and Havre. Phyllis married Fred Weber in 1951. She and Fred lived in Havre until 1980, when Fred became a justice on the Supreme Court, at which time they moved to Helena. Phyllis and Fred had four children, Anna Marie Weber of Long Island, N.Y., Don (Diane) Weber of Spokane, Wash., Mark (Sheri) Weber of Helena, Mont., and Paul Weber (deceased). Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Marie Enyart Schell; her husband of 56 years, Fred Weber; sisters, Vivian Redaeu and Betty Lou Gourley; and a brother, Robert Schell. Phyllis and Fred had six grandchildren: Josh, Rachel, Tim, Paul, Hannah and Michael, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Phyllis' favorite pastimes included: tennis, biking, crosscountry skiing and camping with Fred. She also enjoyed baking for special events and spending time with her grandchildren. She volunteered for many years at St. Peter's Hospital. Her faith life was very important to her. Phyllis loved to journal on her reflections from her scripture readings. She and Fred were longtime members of the St. Helena Cathedral parish. Phyllis and Fred enjoyed working with youth groups including their local Catholic church and Young Life. Phyllis received excellent care from the staff of the Waterford, Big Sky Care Center, St. Peter's Hospital and Hospice. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009, at the Cathedral of St. Helena with a reception to follow the Mass in the church's Brondel Center. Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials can be made to St. Helena Cathedral or to the Hospice of St. Peter's.
