WILMA L. ANDERSON obituary

Wilma L. Anderson, 72, died of natural causes Tuesday, June 23, 2009.

A memorial reception will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Havre Eagles Manor recreation room. Burial of her aRetirement Home shes will be held with immediate family at a future date. Wilma was born May 24, 1937, in Worth County, Ga., the seventh of eight children to John and Martha Roper. She met Ralph W. Anderson while he was being used as a tankrange target at Fort Benning, Ga., where he was stationed. They married Sept. 6, 1952, in Phoenix City, Ala. That winter, she moved with her new husband to the family farm east of Havre. She stayed with him 56 years despite the cold, snow and wind that insulted her southern-bred bones and the offer from her oldest brother to take her back to Georgia. As a farm wife, Wilma ran a tight ship and raised four kids on good food, hard work, fun and singing. She pursued many interests including raising dogs, gardens, pet sheep, chickens, geese and those dang goats. She proudly cashed the check after selling singer Charlie Pride and his family a Chihuahua when they lived in Great Falls. She spent many hours crafting, crocheting, perfecting new recipes and watching wild birds raid her well-stocked feeders. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings and longtime, best friend Judy Moss. She is survived by her husband, Ralph; children, Bob (Kathy) Anderson of Billings and Sharon (Wayne) Nold, Ellen (Steve) McMahan and John (Pam Burke) Anderson, all of Havre; grandchildren, Pam (Terry) Majerus, Sandy (Randy) Brown and Christy (Charles) Kolczak, all of Havre; greatgrandchildren, Zane Anderson, Sonya McMahan and Sage Brown, all of Havre; extended family, neighbors and friends; and one ornery, but loved brother, Wallace Roper of Mobil, Ala.
