With an already stellar recruting class coming in this fall, the Montana State University-Northern football team has added yet another Montana prep standout to the roster. On Wednesday, MSU-Northern head coach Mark Samson announced the signing of Helena Capital star Michael King to an NAIA letter of intent to play football this fall for the Lights. King was a Class AA First Team All-State twoway player for the Bruins this past season, and helped them to the Class AA state championship last fall. King earned all-state honors as a running back and as a place kicker, and was one of the top rushers in AA during his final campaign. "We are very excited to get a player of Mike's ability top join our program so late in the year," Samson said in a press release. "Mike's playmaking ability both on offense and as a special teams performer will add tremendously to our future success. "Coming from Capital High," Samson added, "his football background and preperation for the college game is as good as it can get for any high school player in the state of Montana." King has already played for the Montana team in the annual Mon-Dak All Star Game this summer, and he will suit up for the West team in the upcoming East-West Shrine Game later this month.
