Henry LerOy HambLOCk obituary

Henry LeRoy Hamblock, 86, retired Havre farmer, died Monday, July 6, 2009, at Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes.

His prayer vigil will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel with his funeral Mass at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 9, 2009, at the St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Calvary section of Highland Cemetery in Havre. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the parish center immediately after the services at the graveside. Memorial contributions in Henry's honor may be made to St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic School. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. He was born to Leroy and Tina (Johnson) Hamblock on the family homestead north of Havre on Aug. 10, 1922. He attended the Hamblock School, graduated from Havre High School in 1938 and served in the U.S. Army from February 1945 to October 1946 at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Henry married Rosemary Watters in Havre on Oct. 1, 1949. They were married 48 years and raised six children. Henry farmed north of Havre with his father, Leroy, and brother, Donald. He also worked as a projectionist for Emil DonTigny at the Havre Theater and for his brother, Bud, at the Grand Theater in Big Sandy. In his younger years, Henry enjoyed fishing, hunting and flying with his brother and best friend, Don, and spending time with his cousin, Bob Green. While raising his children he was a Scout leader and served as president of the St. Jude's PTA. As his children started their own families he spent many happy hours rocking his grandchildren. He became a chauffeur, sitter, storyteller, handyman, cook and confidant. As his grandchildren grew, he took up woodworking again and enjoyed rock collecting, gardening, making lefse and cookies, teaching ballroom dancing, learning piano and traveling to visit his children and grandchildren. Henry was past president of the Havre American Legion and a member of the National Farmers Organ-ization. He was an active member of St. Jude's Parish and especially enjoyed his bible study group. He and Rosemary raised their children to value honesty, faith, prayer and charity. Mr. Hamblock was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary; brothers, Birdeen Gullickson, Clifford, Charles and Donald Hamblock; and sisters, Margaret Keysar and Doris Whalen. Henry is survived by his children and grandchildren, Susan (Allen) Knapp and David, Michael and Katie Knapp; Steve Hamblock and daughters Stephanie Longin, Jaimee Hansen, Jen Hamblock and Julie Chen; Mike (Patty) Hamblock and Greg and Sarah Hamblock; Mary Lloyd and daughters, Allison McFarland, Kim and Cassie Lloyd; Phil (Debi) Hamblock and Jaron; Mitchell, and Caleb Reynolds; Theresa (Larry) Larson and Lisa, Nick and Kallie Larson and several nieces and nephews. In the last year of his life, Henry made many new friends and acquaintances at Northern Montana Care Center. He was especially appreciative of the excellent care provided by the staff of the care center.
