Robert David Schwartz Jr., 69 of Tacoma, Wash., passed away on June 28, 2009, after suffering a heart attack at his home.

Bob was born on Feb. 18, 1940, in Havre, Mont., the first child of Robert, Sr. And Evelyn Schwartz. He grew up in Big Sandy, Mont., graduated from Big Sandy High School in 1958 and began a career in the banking business. Employment in banking brought him to the towns of Chester, Great Falls, Havre and Dutton. He later owned businesses in Great Falls and Choteau. On Dec. 20, 1958, he married Jane Marie Hurd. Together they had two children, Clay, 50, and Brenda, 46. He and Jane divorced in 1981. Bob later relocated to Tacoma, Wash., where he met his longtime companion Margaret “Margo” Neumiller. Together they owned and operated a meat and seafood sales business in the Puget Sound area. Bob enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, reading, solving crossword puzzles, campouts and family gatherings. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Bob is survived by his son, Clay (Nancy) Schwartz of Billings, Mont.; daughter, Brenda (Douglas) Edwards of Tucson, Ariz.; mother, Evelyn Schwartz of Big Sandy, Mont.; his longtime companion, Margo Neumiller of Tacoma, Wash.; sister, Sondra (Don) Hanson of Missoula, Mont,; brother, Raymond “Bruce” Schwartz of Helena, Mont.; three grandchildren, Dieter Schwartz, Marcus Edwards and Mariah Edwards, and many cousins, nephews, nieces and special friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Schwartz Sr.; and brothers, Richard and Ralph. Cremation has taken place in Tacoma, Wash. A memorial service to celebrate his life will take place at Christ Lutheran Church in Big Sandy, Mont. On Saturday July 18 at 11 am. Bob was dearly loved by all of his friends and family, and he will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to the Ralph Schwartz Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Wells Fargo Bank, PO Box 278, Big Sandy, MT 59520 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
