Irene Virginia Hanning, 72 years, 17 days, died Wednesday July 15, 2009, at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls, Mont., from complications from surgery.

Her prayer vigil service will be 7 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2009, at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel. Her funeral Mass will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at the St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church with Father Joe Diekhans officiating. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the St. Jude Thaddeus Parish Center immediately after the funeral Mass. Memorial contributions in Irene's honor may be made to the Shriners' Hospital for Children in Spokane or to a charity of one's choice. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Irene was born June 28, 1937, in Havre, the youngest daughter of Oscar and Elia (Bernardoni) Bachini. She graduated from Havre High School in 1956. She married her high school sweetheart Tom Hanning on July 27, 1957, who she loved and adored for 52 years. Together they shared a joyous life, raising four daughters and watching their five beautiful granddaughters grow into fine young ladies. Irene worked for her sister and brother in-law at Al's Jewelry and later for Robinson Jewelry as a goldsmith after completing her training in Cincinnati. She worked for Bear Paw Credit Union from 1984 until she retired in 1999 (the same day as Tom). Over the past few years she helped out Lynette and the girls at Milam Floral. Irene enjoyed teaching her “girls” all the things she thought they would need to know, including her love for Italian cooking. Along with knitting, crocheting and embroidering dish towels, she enjoyed making porcelain dolls and tending to her beautiful flower garden. She had a wonderful group of friends and looked forward to her Wednesday night poker games. She was preceded in death by her parents in 1982 and her siblings, Mary Guza, Frank Bachini, Rosie D'Hooge and John Bachini. Irene is survived by her husband, Tom Hanning of Havre, Mont .; daughters, Cathie Roger) Haas of Hingham, Mont., Lori (Steve) Frier, Jean (Wess) Grandberg and Julie (David) Hassa all of Havre, Mont .; grandaughters, Heather, Holly, Devon, Kelsey and Jaycelyn; brother and sister-inlaw Ken and Marlene Hanning; sister-in-law, Joan Bachini, and Uncle Vasco (Ann) Bachini as well as many nieces and nephews.
