CARL JOE SELBY obituary

Carl Joe Selby, 68, died Sunday evening at Northern Montana Hospital.

Cremation will take place and his memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009, at the Fifth Avenue Christian Church with Chad Leathermon officiating. A fellowship will be held at the church immediately after the service. Memorial contributions in Joe's honor may be made to a memorial of one's choice. Services have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Carl was born March 19, 1941, to Edna Burgan Selby and Harvey W. Selby in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Joe was a lifelong entrepreneur having worked for the railroad, Safeway and movie theater projections. He grew up in Dillon and attended school there. He graduated and then attended barber school in Spokane, Wash. He owned a trailer court in Townsend, Mont. And the Union Marker in Helena along with various other barber shops. He was an avid bowler, hunter and fisherman and loved boats. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Copenhaver, and father, Harvey Selby. He is survived by two brothers, John Selby of South Prairie, Wash., and Ernie Copenhaver of Nevada; a sister, Gloria (Mike) Kramer of Billings, Mont.; stepmother, Bea Selby of Billings, Mont.; his sons, Buddy John (Vanessa) of Spokane, Wash., C.J. (Dee) of Helena, Mont., Bobby Selby of Helena, Mont.; and daughter, Hannah Subry of Helena, Mont.; special friend, Rita Morse of Havre, Mont.; and seven grandchildren. He was a lifelong friend to many and generous to a fault.
