NORMA FAYE VERPLOEGEN obituary

Norma Faye Verploegen, 82, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009.

At Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes. Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 2009, at the St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Dale Yurkovic officiating. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the St. Jude social hall immediately after the service with her burial to follow at the Cottonwood Cemetery north of Havre. Memorial contributions in Norma's honor may be made to the St. Jude Parish Center or to a memorial of one's choice. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Norma was born March 11, 1927, north of Rudyard, Mont., one of six children born to Peter and Mary (Miller) Larsen. Norma was raised in Rudyard, graduating from Rudyard High School in 1945. She went to work for First National Bank in Havre after graduation. She met Hans Verploegen, and the couple married Dec. 16, 1950 in Havre at the St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. They made their home north of Havre on the farm and raised six children. They retired from farming in 1997 and moved to Havre. Norma was a hard worker, a gentle, quiet person who was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, was a member of the Homemakers Club and also participated in 4-H with her children. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, one brother and her grandson, Jared Verploegen in 1986. Norma is survived by her husband of 58 years, Hans Verploegen of Havre, Mont.; children, Donald (Marsha) Verploegen, Marilyn Holfeldt, Pete (Rita) Verploegen, Joe (Vickie) Verploegen, Peggy Verploegen and Russell (Julie) Verploegen all of Havre, Mont.; her sister, Pat Sather of Havre, Mont.; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
