The Havre Blue Pony boys and girls golf teams won't be found in the team scores at this week's Great Falls Invitational golf tournament. Never-the-less, the Pony golf season is under way. Several Havre high golfers are participating in the season-opening Great Falls tournament, but neither the Pony boys or girls are fielding a full team this week. On Monday, HHS opened its season with 18 holes at the always-challenging Meadowlark Country Club, arguably one of the state's toughest layouts. On the boys side, HHS senior Brett Normandy shot 89 on the Par 72 layout to lead HHS. Simon McCann shot 111 and Cody Brunk fired a 121 to round out the HHS scoring. After the first day of competition Billings West was in the lead on the boys side with a 294, six strokes ahead of second-place Glacier High. Individually, West's Jake Hedge shot a 4-under 68 to lead the boys field. In all, four Class AA players shot even par or better on the opening day. The HHS girls have just two player sin the field in Great Falls. Senior Courtney Kinholt leads the Ponies after shooting an opening day 106 at Meadowlark. Junior Rebekah Martin shot 116 to round out the scoring for HHS. The CMR girls lead the way after the first 18 holes with a 341, nine strokes ahead of second-place Bozeman. CMR's Katie Fish had the low round of the day on the girls side with an 80. The Great Falls invite wraps up today with 18 holes at Eagle Falls Golf Course.
