JEANETTE ANDERSON KALUZA obituary

Jeanette Anderson Kaluza, 72, of West Covina, Calif., passed away unexpectedly of a massive heart attack Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at Intercommunity Hospital in Covina.

Born Sept. 19, 1936, in Chinook, Mont. Jeanette was the youngest of Harry and Wilma (Varner) Anderson's four daughters. She graduated from Northern Montana College with her degree in elementary education. She married the love of her life and best friend, Phil Kaluza, in 1959. On June 6, they celebrated their golden anniversary. Every year they traveled back to Montana. She attained her master's degree in education in reading from Cal State at Fullerton and special ed credentials from Cal Poly, Pomona. She retired in 1997 after teaching 50 years. After retiring, she coordinated Vine School's reading program, helped at her daughter's school and taught at Tri-Community Adult Education in Covina. Jeanette was preceded in death by her sister, Grace Wuerl. She is survived by her loving husband, Phil, of West Covina; her daughters, Cheryl Anderson, Lyndie (Ken) O'Toole; her beloved grandchildren, Daniel and Kristyn Cichirillo and Garrett and Brett O'Toole. Also surviving are her sisters, Bette Killian and Eleanor (Al) Johnson. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to City of Hope or book donations to the Vine Elementary School Library, West Covina . A celebration of Jeanette's life was held Saturday, Aug. 29, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Covina, with a reception following in the parish hall.
