Officials search for two weekend drowning victims

A search for a weekend drowning victim on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation has been confirmed this morning, while a representative of the Chouteau County Sheriff's Office said law enforcement officers are still at the scene of a suspected drowning at Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation first reported in the Monday edition of The Havre Daily News. Blaine County Sheriff Glenn Huestis and Hill County Undersheriff Jamie Ross both said this morning that their offices were called to assist in the search for a drowning victim at Fort Belknap. Chouteau County law enforcement officers and the county Search and Rescue Team have been assisting Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation officials in searching for the body of a man believed to have drowned at Bonneau Reservoir Saturday. No officers from the Rocky Boy Police Department were available to comment on the incident or search, a department representative said. The officers were still at the scene, she said. The Associated Press reports that an aunt and nephew said the 18-yearold man was swimming in the reservoir Saturday afternoon when he disappeared. In the Fort Belknap incident, Huestis said officers from his office assisted in the search, and Blaine County called for help from the Hill County Search and ReRoss said his office received the call for help at 5:28 p.m., and sent assistance including divers to look for the victim's body. He said the team returned Sunday. Calls to the Fort Belknap Police were referred to Acting Police Chief Robert Ironmaker Jr., who was not available for comment by deadline.scue Team.
