JEAN OLIVIA NEELY obituary

Jean Olivia Neely, 86, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at the Sweet Nursing Home in Chinook due to natural causes.

Memorial funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at 11 a.m., in the Fifth Avenue Christian Church with private family burial on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at Highland Cemetery in Havre. Memorials may be sent to the Shriners Children Hospital or to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook. Jean was born on Oct. 2, 1923, in Coburg, Mont., to Dan and Edna (Rich) Hay She was raised in the area and graduated from Harlem High School. Jean married Robert Neely on March 6, 1943, in Chinook. As well as being a homemaker and taking care of her family, she worked at the Harlem News and as an election judge in Havre. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing Yahtzee with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Jean is survived by sons, Robert (Arlene) Neely Jr. Of Kelso, Wash., Mike (Barbara Longknife) Neely of Hays, Jim Neely of Harlem, David (Chris) Neely of Wenatchee, Wash., and Richard (Susan) Neely of Seattle, Wash.,; daughters, Barbara (Ron) Miller of Havre and Peggy (Michael Conrad) Neely of Great Falls; brothers, Bill (Betty) Hay of Harlem and Dick Hay of Miles City; sisters, Marybelle (Herman) Liese and Ethel Birdwell, both of Harlem; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Neely in 1997; grandson, Robby Neely III; brother, Blaine Hay; and sisters, Alice Miller and Gloria Miller.
