Action across the Hi-Line may have started on a Thursday this past week, but there was plenty going on to last the entire weekend. The Northern C Chester/J-I Hawks got things started on Thursday, but fell to the No. 5 Belt Huskies 40-0 at home in snowy 8-Man play. The Huskies put up eight points in the first quarter, but extended their lead to 21-0 at the end of the first half on two more touchdowns. And in the third quarter the Huskies managed two more scores before adding another in the fourth quarter. This was the Hawks second straight scoreless game while giving up 40-plus points to the opposing team. And with the loss, the Hawks have dropped to 1-5 and must now attempt to turn their season around against a vastly improved Chinook team Wednesday in Chinook. On Friday night, the action continued, but another Hi-Line team found themselves on the losing end. The District 2B Harlem Wildcats were on the road where the Plentywood Wildcats handed them a 39-12 loss. Harlem was shut out in the first three quarters, and by the time they found the end zone, Plentywood had already built a substantial lead. Plenty wood led 26-0 at halftime, and 39-0 after the third quarter. In the fourth, Taylor First Raised threw two touchdown passes. He hit Brandon Hammond on a five-yard pass, and Jeremiah Horn from 16 yards out to give Harlem their only two scores of the contest. Plentywood was able to pick up their first league win, but Harlem dropped to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in league. Harlem will now host the Glasgow Scotties on Wednesday. The Chinook Sugarbeeters had found a groove two weeks ago when they won their first game of the season. But coming out of a bye week on Friday, they were able to continue play without missing a beat. Hosting the Simms Tigers, the Northern C Beeters came away with a 46-0 victory, boosting their overall and conference records to 2-4. In earning the shutout, the Beeters got off to a fast start. And in the first quarter it was the defense finding ways to score. Lane Schmitt scored on a 30- yard interception return, while Tyler Molyneaux put up two points on a safety. Molyneaux also had a 43-yard rushing touchdown to put the Beeters up 18-0 after one quarter. The Beeters also posted 16 more points in the second and six more in both in the third and fourth quarters. Molyneaux had two more rushing touchdowns on the day, adding to his three total. He would put one in from 20 yards as well as six yards out. Ben Stroh would also add two more rushing touchdowns to the books. Coming in the third quarter, he scored on a 15-yard run, and in the fourth he scored from three yards out. With win, the Beeters are finally staring to look like the team they were supposed to be at the beginning of the season. And now with a 2-4 record they look to keep rolling as they face the C/JI Hawks (1-5) Wednesday in Chinook. In Six-Man play, the Big Sandy Pioneers put another exclamation point on their unbelievable season on Saturday. And in a meeting of two undefeated teams, it was the top-ranked Pioneers who came out on top. Visiting 5-0 Great Falls Central, the Pioneers steam rolled their way to a 58-20 Saturday victory in Great Falls. Jumping out to an 18-0 first quarter lead, Ryan Miller and Corbin Pearson combined for three scores. Miller had two, a 25-yard rushing TD's, while Pearson split the scores with an eightyard rush. And though Central was able to put up two scores for the 13 points in the second, the Pioneers extended their lead with 14 points of their own. Pearson added a 29-yard rushing touchdown to his stats, and Taylor Ophus pulled in a 17-yard pass from Kruz McDermott for the Pioneers first score through the air. The Pioneer defense stepped up once again. And in the third quarter, they hung a zero on the scoreboard. But the offense kept rolling. And Scott Drga and Ryan Miller got in on the scoring action. First Drga scored on a 36-yard interception return, then Miller followed with a 30-yard rushing touchdown. The Pioneers also added two touchdowns in the fourth, another 30-yard Miller run and a Blake Brumwell 20- yard reception from McDermott. Miller led the Pioneers with four rushing touchdowns, and Pearson added two of his own, as the Pioneers remained undefeated. The Pioneers are on the road next as they gear up to play Heart Butte tonight. Also playing on Saturday, the Northern C, 6-Man North Star Knights found a way to get it done. The Knights played host to the Valier Panthers, and in a dominating home win, the Knights captured the 57-18 victory. And with the win, the Knights improved to 3-2 in league play. The conference matchup was only close for part of the first quarter. Kellan Warren struck first with a Knights one-yard run, and the Panthers answered back with a rushing TD of their own to tie the game at 6-6. But on seven unanswered touchdowns, the Knights ran away with the contest. Connor Kline and Zach Anderson both added touchdowns in the first quarter to put the Knights up 20-6. And both scores came from Jordy Donoven, one from 36 yards and the other from eight. And in the second quarter of play the barrage continued. Warren struck first again, this time on the ground for a 50-yard score. And Anderson reeled in another TD pass from Donoven, this time for 26 yards. Dillon Lipp got in the books on a oneyard rushing TD, but Donoven made his presence felt again, this time catching an 11-yard pass from Kline to put the Knights up 44-6 at the half. In the third quarter Kline also rushed for three yards and another score, before the Panthers would find their way back to the end zone. But the Donoven show continued as he returned the ensuing kick 70 yards for his second touchdown, after already throwing for three. Cody Hawk added his third touchdown of the game for the Panthers, but it wasn't enough after the Knight's 44-point first half. The Knights have a quick turnaround, as they prepare to host the No. 4 Augusta Elks on Tuesday in Rudyard. The Northern C Hays-Lodge Pole Thunderbirds were also in action this weekend, but continued to struggle. On the road, Fairview defeated the Thunderbirds 68-6, dropping the Thunderbirds to 1-5 on the season. And returning home, the Thunderbirds will now host No. 5 Circle in conference play on Saturday.
