RUBIN BUCHHOLZ obituary

Rubin Buchholz, 81, a longtime Havre resident, died of cancer Saturday Nov. 7, 2009, at Northern Montana Care Center.

His memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel with Pastor Michael Dahle officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held immediately after the graveside services at the V.F.W. Memorial contributions in Rubin's honor may be made to the Montana Chapter of the American Cancer Society. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Rubin was born Nov. 2, 1928, one of 12 children born to Fred and Rosa (Zahn) Buchholz on a farm in Coburg, Mont. He attended school in Dodson and began working for the railroad in 1947. He enlisted into the United States Army and served during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He was honorably discharged in 1952 as a private first class. He married Anna Damm Bender in 1960 and had one daughter, Tammy. After working for 41 years with the railroad, Rubin retired in 1990. Rubin enjoyed traveling with his wife, Anna, and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Fred, Ben, Donald and Jim Buchholz; and sisters, Amelia, Rozella, Wilma, Verna and Violet. Rubin is survived by his wife of 49 years, Anna Buchholz of Havre, Mont.; daughter, Tammy (Rick) Kuepfer of McKinney, Texas; grandson, Ryan Kuepfer; stepdaughters, Linda (Dean) Norden-Urton of Great Falls, Mont., and Lila Simmons of Hartshorne, Okla.; brother, Raymond (Marcie) Buchholz of Three Forks, Mont., sister, Vina (Howard) Derbyshire of Seattle, Wash.; eight stepgrandchildren; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren and six stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
