EMMA GLADYS PENESTIN SKINNER WRIGHT obituary

Emma Gladys Wright, 98, passed away Wednesday Nov. 11, 2009, at Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes.

Cremation has taken place and her memorial service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 17, 2009, at the St. Mark's Episcopal Church with a second memorial service at 2:30 p.m. at Northern Montana Care Center Ponderosa Room. Her graveside and burial will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Highland Cemetery. A reception will be held after the graveside service at 930 2nd Ave. Memorials in Emma's honor may be made to the NMCC "Space For Grace" Chapel Fund C/O NMHCF P.O. Box 1231 Havre, MT 59501. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Emma was born July 22, 1911 in The Bronx, New York to the Rev. Reginald William Peniston Skinner and Edith Augusta (Knaggs) Skinner. She was the fourth of seven children born to the couple and was the only child born in the United States. Emma came to America with her family when she was young. She remembered going through Ellis Island when they were coming from Bermuda. Emma attended St. Anthony's Training School for Nurses and graduated as a registered nurse with the Class of 1934. Emma married John Al Wright on Sept. 10, 1937 in Helena, Mont. Their first daughter, Carolyn Joy, was born Oct. 6, 1939. The family moved to Havre in 1940 where their second daughter, Jacqueline, was born June 18, 1942. Emma worked in the O.B. department at the Deaconess most of her nursing years in Havre. She was also the Hill County health nurse in 1952 and worked at the Senior Citizens with RSVP. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, John Al Wright, on Dec. 28, 1980. Emma is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Joy Huntington of Havre, Mont., and Jacqueline Plum of Great Falls, Mont;. Her grandchildren, Berton John (Teri) Huntington of Casper, Wyo. William David (Barbara) Huntington of Colorado Springs, Colo., John Derrick (Rebecca) Huntington of Havre, Mont., Keri Lee (Terry) Moralli and Clifford Eugene (Chamene) Plum of Havre, Mont., and Vicki Lynn Plum of Colstrip, Mont.; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
