BEN SPINLER obituary

Benjamin B. Spinler, 71, a lifelong Hingham area farmer who loved to bowl and golf, died after collapsing at his home Sunday evening.

A memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church in Hingham. A reception will follow. Cremation and arrangements are by Rockman Funeral Chapel in Chester. Ben was born Oct. 3, 1938, in Havre to Joseph and Frances (Pester) Spinler. He grew up on the family farm near Hingham and graduated from Hingham High School in 1956. He married Marjorie E. Durkee on Sept. 9, 1958. They farmed at Hingham and raised a family of three. Ben retired in 2003. He was an active bowler in many local, state and national tournaments. He also enjoyed golfing, flying, traveling, playing cards and the computer. Ben loved his Ford pickups and was an avid football fan of the Montana Grizzlies and Carroll College Saints. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marjie Spinler of Rudyard; a son, Greg (Rose) Spinler of Hingham; two daughters, Nancy Collick and KayCee Adams, both of Helena; five grandkids, Ryan and Paige, Quinn and Gavin and Jessica; two brothers, Victor and Gilbert Spinler, both of Havre; and a brother-inlaw, Don Beatty of Havre.
