Blue Ponies touted by the Central A

The 2009 football season may be done and over with, but along side some Havre High Blue Ponies, the Central A conferences' best are being recognized. Don Peoples earned the prestigious coach of the year award after reaching the state championship semifinals with the Butte Central Maroons, while the most valuable offensive player went to the Maroon's junior quarterback Andy Ritter. Most valuable defensive player also went to a Maroon as senior Sean Ferriter played extremely well from the defensive end position. But the Blue Ponies were very well recognized as well. Jacob Lilletvedt received honorable mention center, while Spencer Smith received honorable mention offensive guard, Justin Jensen received honorable mention punter, Danny Roe received honorable mention defensive end, Colter Lairy earned honorable mention on defense, Jim Beemer received honorable mention offensive tackle and Layne Waid earned honorable mention cornerback. Kent Pattison earned first team tailback, second team cornerback and honorable mention return specialist. And John Perrodin was named first team fullback and first team outside linebacker, while Casey Schaub earned honorable mention fullback, but also second team inside linebacker. Will DeVries was named 1st team offensive guard and Danny Roe was named second team kicker and honorable mention defensive end. And Mitch Schnittgen also got well deserved recognition, earning his way to a first team offensive tackle and second team defensive tackle accolade. And while some Ponies earned state wide recognition for their efforts on the football field, the Ponies also had team awards to hand out. At the varsity level, offensive player of the year went to Pattison, while defensive player went to Perrodin. Offensive linemen of the year was claimed by DeVries and defensive linemen of the year went to Schnittgen. The Pony pride award was given to Lilletvedt and the most inspirational award was given to Jake Myers. The junior varsity offensive player of the year was given to Jensen and defensive player of the year was given to Eli Hinebauch. And at the freshmen/sophomore level, the offensive player of the year was claimed by Chet Shrauger while the defensive player of the year was claimed by Zach Plum.
