The Havre Ice Hawks high school hockey team couldn't have asked for a better opening weekend. Last Friday and Saturday, the Ice Hawks opened their season on the road in Whitefish with a pair of convincing wins over the Glacier Avalanche. Tyler Miller and Jess Majeres had two assists each and Jon Austin added an assist as well. The Havre defense only gave up 17 shots in the season-opening win over Glacier and starting goalie Will DeVries made 15 saves between the pipes. In Havre's second game against Glacier, the Ice Hawks were again dominant, beating the Avalanche 7-0. Majeres had two goals and an assist in the win, while Austin also scored twice. Dillon McLain scored a goal and had three assists, while Brandt Miller and Roe each had a goal and an assist and Kyle Miller added two assists. Brayden Grimson and Justin Jensen also had assists in the shutout win. Havre defensemen Nic Sunchild, Tyler Miller, Dillon McLain, Brayden Grimson, Justin Jensen, Tony Morsette and Levi Wavrick were tough once again, only allowing Glacier to get 12 shots on goal.
