ALVIN A. MORRIS obituary

Alvin A. Morris, 87, of Valier died Nov. 27, 2009, at the Marias Care Center in Shelby, Mont., of natural causes.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Highland Cemetery in Havre, Mont. Services are in the care of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home of Havre. Al was born on July 30, 1922, at Leder, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Franklin and Lu Ella (Henry) Morris. He moved to Chinook, Mont., at the age of 2, and later to Havre. He began working for the Great Northern Railroad and then enlisted to serve his country with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged and returned to Havre to work for the BNSF Railroad for the next 46 years. Alvin married Martha A. Brown in 1970 in Coeur D' Lane, Idaho. They made their home in Havre until his retirement. He was a member of the Eagles Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was baptized Methodist. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and two sisters, along with one stepson, Victor Orr. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 40 years, Martha Morris of Valier; his daughter, Cheri Hegan of Whitefish, Mont.; sons, Ben Morris of Kalispell, Mont., and Bill (Jerry Lynn) Morris of Laurel, Mont.; stepdaughter, Diana Johnson of Coolville, Ohio; very special friends Ed and Patty Codden of Havre, Mont.; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
