ALICE ETHEL NIVENS obituary

Alice Ethel (Hall) Nivens, 82, left this world on Nov. 26, 2009, at Northern Montana Care Center in Havre.

Memorial funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at 1 p.m. in the Chinook Assembly of God Church with burial following in the Kuper Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook. Alice was born on Feb. 5, 1927, to Calvin James and Ethel (Kimsey) Hall in Chinook, Mt. She attended grade school in Pleasantview and graduated from Chinook High School in 1947. She worked at the Grill Claf where she met Austin Nivens. They married on June 27, 1948, and had two daughters and four sons. They moved to Havre and lived in town until 1969 when they moved five miles west of Havre. She enjoyed baking and dancing with her soul mate two or three times a week to good country music, she also enjoyed working in her many flower beds, playing cards and dice with her friends. She loved helping take care of the farm. She also collected bells, birds and angels. She is survived by her husband, Austin Nivens; six children, Bernice Campbell of Havre, Diana Robbins of Gillette, Wyo., Roger (Kathy) Nivens of Benton, Ark., Mark (Peggy) Nivens of Havre, Rick (Freya ) Nivens of Oregon City, Ore., and Greg (Mary) Nivens of Sheridan, Wyo.; one brother, Ira (Janet) Hall of Havre, and three sisters, Eleanor Wilson of Great Falls, and Rozella Annis and Kathryn Rudolph both of Chinook. She had 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 greatgreatgrandson and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers James William, Calvin, (Buddy) Franklin Theodore, and Sheldon (Ray) Sisters Lola Lee, Isabelle (Izzie), Mary and Evelyn (Evie) and one grandson, James Warren Van Gundy.
