MSU-N's Dennis, Schermele honored by the Frontier

A pair of Montana State University- Northern basketball players earned Frontier Conference Player of the Week honors the league announced on Monday. Justin Dennis of Montana State- Northern was named Frontier Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Dennis is a 6-1 senior guard from Toronto, Ontario. MSU-Northern split their weekend games as the Lights defeated Evergreen State College 89-72 and lost to Eastern Oregon University 50-68 in Lewiston, Idaho. Dennis averaged 16.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. He hit 46 percent (11-of-24) of his field goals and 86 percent (6-of-7) of his free throws for the 4-4 Lights. Also nominated were Weston Anderson of Westminster College, Kevin Harris of the University of Great Falls, Markus Monroe of Lewis-Clark State and Nate Richardson of Rocky Mountain College . Samm Schermele of Montana State-Northern was named the Frontier Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Schermele is a 5-9 junior guard from Great Falls. MSU-Northern went 2-0 for the weekend with an 82- 73 win over Northwest University and a 59-46 win over Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wash. For the weekend, she averaged 22 points and five rebounds. Schermele hit 64 percent of her field goals (14-of- 22) including 7 of 9 from three-point range for the 3-5 Skylights. Also nominated was Nikki DePeel of Lewis-Clark State, Dannii Devenny of Montana Tech, Alex Dunn of Carroll College, Tana Stewart of Rocky Mountain College and Nicole Yazzle of Westminster College. The Lights and Skylights are back on the road with games at a tournament in Butte Friday and Saturday. The Skylights also face MSU Sunday in Bozeman.
