ARNOLD C. PETERSON obituary

Arnold C. Peterson, 99, of Havre, died at his home, Dec. 1, 2009.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m., at First Lutheran Church in Havre, with Pastor Brad Ulgenes officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Highland Cemetery in Havre. Memorial donations may be made in Arnold's honor to a charity of the donor's choice, the Senior Citizens Center of Havre or First Lutheran Church. Services have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home of Havre, Mont. Arnold was born Nov. 5, 1910, to Helbert H.J. and Eva (Helland) Peterson in Katherine, N.D. Arnold's parents moved to the Cottonwood area north of Havre, where they homesteaded. He attended primary school at the Miller School and graduated from Havre High School. He later attended college for two eyars at Northern Montana College. He met and later married Helen K. Metzger in 1935. In 1944 they bought the Metzger farm north of Havre and farmed until 1980 when they moved into Havre. Helen preceded him in death in 1992. He later married Alice (Kinsey) Rice Arnold was a devoted member of the Lutheran faith and an active member in the First Lutheran Church of Havre. To name but a few of his many affiliations and accomplishments he was one of the charter members of the Independence Bank in Havre, a member of the Havre Kiwanis, a 30-year GTA board member; 35 years with Farmers Grain Association, a member of SCORE, and the first secretary of North Havre Water District. Arnold was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his son, Jack Peterson; his brother, Russell Peterson; and his sister, Edith Hurd. He is survived by his second wife, Alice (Kinsey)( Rice) Peterson of Havre; his children, and their spouses, Edith (Galen) Tidrick of Brentwood, Calif., Charlis (Dan) Carpenter; Hila (Dave) Stevens and Jody (Bruce) Lyons all of Havre, Charles (Beverly) Peterson of North Havre; Arnold Peterson of Topeka, Kan .; his stepsons, Jim (Linda) Rice of New Philadelphia, Ohio, John (Nancy) Rice of Detroit, William (Susie) Rice of Mouroeville, Pa .; 11 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchildren
