GRACE VERA HEETER obituary

Grace Vera Heeter, 101, died of natural causes at Northern Montana Health Care Center Dec. 5, 2009.

A memorial service will be held at the Ark Church at 325 2nd St. Saturday at 11 a.m. Grace was born in Denver, Colo., March 15, 1908, to Alice and Clarence Tooley. She moved to Hastings, Neb. She worked in a defense factory as a "Rosie the Riveter." She married Earl Johnston, and they moved to Mountain View, Mo., where they farmed. Their daughter, Shirley Ann, was born there before they moved to Havre in the early '40s to work on a farm. Their son, Earl Jr., was born in Havre, followed by another daughter, Margaret. Grace worked at the Dutch Shop Cafe, Park Hotel, Fair Hotel and 4Bs Restaurant. She did a lot of walking until 2007. Grace loved people and good conversation, and she had a good sense of humor. She will be missed. Grace was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Johnston and Rudy Heeter; daughter, Margaret LaRocque; three sisters; and three brothers. She is survived by daughter, Shirley (Jim) Tautges of Havre; son, Earl Jr.; grandsons, Gerald Myrum of Havre, David Myrum of Missoula and Harold LaRocque of Great Falls; grandaughters, Linda Myrum of Minn. And Yvonne (Scott) Temple of Butte; seven greatgrandchildren; seven greatgreat- grandchildren; and many friends.
