Great Falls repeals 20-foot smoking ordinance

Great Falls city commissioners voted Tuesday to repeal a city ordinance that banned smoking within 20 feet of buildings. The Montana Tavern Association had lobbied the commissioners to change the ordinance because it was too hard to enforce. Others noted the statewide Clean Indoor Air Act, which bans smoking in all public buildings, began applying to bars and casinos on Oct. 1, leading to more customers smoking outside.
