Annual HHS Alumni Basketball on tap Saturday

The Havre Public Schools Foundation's annual alumni basketball games return to Havre on Saturday night. The successful event is a fundraiser for the HPS Foundation and has been going strong for several years now. This year's event will get underway at 7 p.m. Saturday night at the Havre Middle School gymnasium. There will be two games, a girls game followed by a boys game. Turnout has always been good for the games, and many former HHS students are scheduled to play this year, but players can still sign up until game time. The games are, as always, not limited to just HHS basketball players, but anyone who attended Havre High. The girls roster as of press time, was not full, so there is still plenty of room for more girls to play. So far, girls committed to playing are Julie (Wagner) Reesor of the Class of 2002, Katie Miller Wirtzberger, also of 2002, LaSahe Michels from 2001, Kelsey Evans from 2006, Stephanie Stremcha and Stacey Sheppard from 2008 and Karly Evans from the Class of 2009. Again, any more girls interested in playing can sign up at game time. On the boys side, Kurt Leeds of the class of 2004, Grayson Winsor from 2008, Mike Sharp from 2007, Danny Wirtzberger from 2002, Mike Odegard from 2008, Cory Brothers from 2004, Scott Miller from 2006, Kyle Finneman from 2008, Kaden Keto from 2009, Tony Filler from 2008, Jeremy Giardina from 2006, Tanner Veis from 2006, Tucker Parman from 2009 and Jared Weigel from the class of 2006 are slated to play. Saturday night's events will also feature not only the aforementioned HHS alumni, but also former Blue Pony athletes Marc Mariani, Gary Wagner, Coda Tchida, Patch Wirtzberger, among others who have all gone on to play college athletics. Master Sports will also be auctioning off a signed Marc Mariani University of Montana football jersey Saturday night, and a silent auction of select Blue Pony items will also be held. Cost for the event is $5 for adults and $3 for students. The girls game starts at 7 p.m. with the boys game to follow. The gym will also be available for practice from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at HMS.
