He was living in Billings at the time of his death and was working at Help For Homeless Pets taking care of rescued cats and dogs. Chad's greatest joy was his two sons Daniel and Jesse that he brought into the world with special friend Amy Hout. He was also a special dad to Amy's daughter Marilyn. Chad was born with a Noah's heart and loved animals and nature. He spent years of his life taking care of various critters. He had a great respect for all life. He saved many lives in his rescues. He loved reading, art, music, writing and NASCAR racing. He was a wonderful son, uncle and brother who loved spending time with his family. One of Chad's greatest accomplishments was his two years of sobriety prior to his passing. His family was very proud of this acheivement. Chad also became a born-again Christian in 2008 and was baptized into the Lord. He was a firm believer and found great strength in his faith. He is now at peace with Jesus. He is survived by his two sons, Daniel and Jesse; his parents, Richard and Marjorie Hickel of Turner; his brothers, Gregory Hickel of Malta and Steven (Colleen) Hickel of Havre; his sister, Shannon (Johannas) Brown of Turner; nephews, Reece and Stefon Hickel both of Malta; a niece, Lacey and nephew, Landon Hickel of Havre; nephews, J.R. and Jake Brown of Turner; several uncles, aunts, cousins and friends, and his beloved rescued cats.
