Four local players make Shrine Game roster

A pair of Havre Blue Ponies and a pair of Big Sandy Pioneers will represent the Hi-Line in the 64th East-West Shrine football game this summer. Havre High Class A All-State linemen Will DeVries and Mitch Schnittgen have both been selected to play on the East squad this summer. DeVries, a two-time all-state player for the Blue Ponies was selected as an offensive lineman, while Schnittgen, also a two-time all-state player on both lines was picked to play on the defensive line for a very talented East team. Big Sandy seniors Blake Brumwell and Taylor Ophus were also named to the East team which was released over the weekend. Brumwell, despite dealing with multiple injuries throghout his high school career, was a two-time Class C All-State player as was Ophus. Brumwell was selected to play tight end in Montana's most prestigious all-star game, while Ophus will join Schnittgen on the defensive line. The 2009 East-West Shrine Game is slated for July 17 in Butte.
