JERRY COPENHAVER, obituary

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rudyard. Following burial of ashes in the Rudyard Cemetery, a reception will be held at the church. Arrangements are by Rockman Funeral Chapel of Chester. Jerry was born Dec. 13, 1941, at Dillon, Mont., to Ernest and Annette Copenhaver. In 1955 the family moved to Joplin, where Jerry graduated from Joplin High School in 1960. He married Sandra Golberg of Rudyard on July 29, 1960. He attended barber's school in Spokane, Wash., then returned to Montana and purchased a barber shop in Rudyard, which he owned until 1976. At that time he began working for Hasty Tire in Rudyard, a job he enjoyed for more than 20 years. He drove the Rudyard school bus for decades. For more than 30 years he farmed north of Rudyard with his family. Jerry's hobbies were fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking, bowling, golfing and playing cards. He enjoyed watching rodeo events and the Chicago Cubs. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandi Copenhaver of Rudyard; two children, Marcia (Dale) Welliever of Billings and Mark (Tammy) Copenhaver of Helena; five grandchildren, Tom, Kelci, Steven, Jacklyn and Jerilyn; two brothers, Bob Copenhaver of Bismarck, N.D., and Ernie Copenhaver of Sparks, Nev.; and one sister, Cheryl Hyndman of Helena.
