Flood warnings out for Beaver Creek

The rains and snow in the last week have raised a flood warning south of town, although the chair of the Hill County Commission expects the cool weather to minimize any serious problems. "We're just monitoring it," Mike Wendland said this morning. "I think we're in good shape if it stays cool so we don't get a quick melt." The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory late Wednesday morning running through 2:45 p.m. Friday that included Beaver Creek. The Weather Service reported that Beaver Creek was over its banks from Bear Paw Lake to Beaver Creek Reservoir, with water levels over the ground up to one-foot-deep in some locations. The continued snowmelt could cause pooling of water on country roads and farmland near the banks of the creek, the advisory said. Wendland said the county government is not concerned about any flooding from Beaver Creek Reservoir. It is handling the water at this point, he said. "What's going in is going out. It's about equal," he said.
